North Forks Bridge to close for repairs
June 15, 2017
BURTTS CORNER (GNB) – The Department of Energy and Resource Development advises trail users that the North Forks Bridge in York County will be closed for repairs starting Monday, June 19.
The bridge, about 200 metres west of the intersection of Upper Stoneridge Road and Lower Stoneridge Road, is on the former railway bed multi-use trail.
The closure is necessary to replace the bridge deck and steel support substructure. Work is expected to last three weeks, and the bridge is scheduled to reopen Friday, July 7, weather permitting.
Recreational trail users should avoid this portion of trail during the closure because there is no safe detour route.
The New Brunswick All-Terrain Vehicle Federation and the New Brunswick Trails Council have been informed of the closure.
These repairs are part of the department’s commitment to continue to invest in multi-use trail infrastructure.
